Card Workshop

The kids went back to school yesterday. I can't believe my son is in the 5th grade. What happened? It seems like yesterday he was starting Kindergarden. It was a sad day for me, thinking this will be his last year in elementary school. Tonight was Back to School night. We got to meet William's 5th Grade teacher Mrs. Caves. She seems really nice, and I think it will be another challenging year for him. But, that will be good so it will prepare him for Middle School next year.

Katie has been following in William's footsteps with the same teachers. We did go to see her teacher, Ms. Rasmussen and we were the only parents there in the 2nd group. We knew from last year what to expect so it was an early night. Bill and I thought the Back to School nights seem to go quicker each year. There was less of the welcoming address and more time spent with the teachers going over the year's expectations and learning objectives. Gotta love that!

I finally got the chance to play with my new CTMH papers and stamps.  I am trying to see if I can get a Card Workshop together by Saturday.

Here's a card using the fall themed Olivia papers X7128B and D1436 The Present. I love this stamp set. The sentiment is beautiful and can be used for any occassion. I used our new Sunset and Pear inks with Chocolate.

Don't forget the Fall/Winter Idea Book goes live tomorrow. Check it out at my website: susanacheson.myctmh.com

If you have any questions, please do not hesistate to contact me. If you would like a hard copy of the Idea Book, let me know, and I can drop one off to you at your convenience.

Thriller

We just got back from a few days away at the beach. Poor planning on my part...I realized summer vacation was coming to an end for the kids and it dawned on me, we didn't go away for any vacation. The kids go back to school August 30. Prior to going away, I needed to get all their supplies ready and register the little one for preschool. So, the day we left, we went to the dentist for the kids' checkup and registered my daughter for Preschool.

When we got to the beach, the weather was great that first night, but then it got really cold. And, of course when it was time to go home, the weather became sunny and warm. Oh well, there's always the pool at home.

Anyway, here is a card using the September Stamp of the Month, D1442-Thriller. I was not too "thrilled" with this set until I went to Team Meeting and our leader had us make this card for our sample. Unfortunately, I do not have the same exact stamp sets.

Here is Kelly's version:

She used the X7129B Hooligans Level 2 papers and B1359 Fright Night with D1442 Thriller. She showed us Chalk popping to get that cool image of the spooky fence.

And here is mine:
I didn't have the Fright Night set so I used C1423 Captured Moments with the same Chalk popping effect.
Captured Moments has this cool Halloween scene, a Fall leaves blowing in the wind, and a Winter Wonderland scene included. I can't wait to show you this set. This will be one of my Make and Take cards at the next crop. Z1335 The new Licorice Opaques were used for the eye and the O.

Enjoy,

Fall Layout with Olivia

I have finally finished this layout. It is a layout that is featured in our new Fall/ Winter Idea Book with the Olivia Reflections Paper pack. The Olivia papers are more Fall themed featuring the new colors: Pear, Sunset, and Smoothie with Barn Red. They layout is Hocus Pocus from the new How To book, Magic. There are instructions in Magic for making the filmstrip on the first page of the layout. It is sooo cool and pretty easy to follow.

That wasn't the part that kept me from finishing the layout. The second page looked like it was missing something on the lower right hand corner and I was having a hard time trying to decide what to put there. Also, when I made the layout, I realized I forgot to leave a place for journaling.

Well, I finally decided to carry the pumpkins over to the second page and make a tag for journaling and hide it under one of the pictures. When I place this page in my album, I will slit the page protector on the side, so the tab with the filmstrip can be pulled and also make a slit so the journaling tag can be revealed.

Sneak Peek-Hooligans

Here is a sneak peek at the new Halloween themed paper pack, Hooligans. I love the combination of the new colors: Gypsy, Lagoon, Pear, and Sunset.

And the cute 3D adhesive-backed monsters coordinate so well with these papers.

I made an interactive layout from our new How To book, Magic. I can't wait to share it with you. It has all new layouts with instructions for interactive layouts. How cool is that?

Triple Play Gift Card Set

For those of you who don't like making mini albums and are looking for gift option with the Triple Play Mini Album, a fellow consultant Gloria Rogers suggested making a card set with the kit. Here is my version:

I took the Indian Corn Blue set, stamped the images as instructed. I cut the album pages to 3.5 x 3.5 for card fronts.  I embellished them and attached them to card bases. I then made a cute little pocket to hold the cards and envelopes.  And, there it is a cute little card gift set.

I'd love to hear your thoughts on this project. Also, leave me a comment about the blog. Any advise and/or suggestion would be most helpful.

      Thanks,

Something Splendid

The summer seems to be flying by.  I have been trying to catch the latest back to school sales for the supplies the kids need. Also, been trying to catch some of the tax free shopping this week. I did manage to get the girls tap and ballet shoes. I bought my son some jeans and shirts for school. I hope he likes them so I don't have to return them.

There have been quite a few birthdays this month and lots of partying: my niece, my brother, and my sister-in-law. I wanted to use the August Stamp of the Month, Something Splendid to make some fun birthday cards. This card is for a very special someone; and I hope she is surprised when she receives it.  It was inspired by one of my fellow consultants.

Here's the inside. I used the new Fall stamp set, The Present with the new Pear Ink.

The new Fall papers have arrived and I have been trying to find time to create with them. I have been trying to finish some layouts from our new How To book, Magic.

It's off to bed. We are heading to my niece's house tomorrow for the "family" birthday party.

Something Splendid

I have wanted to try the circle cards in the Wishes Book for a while now, but couldn't figure out how to cut a circle card other than the pattern that was included in the CD.  Finally, I was able to use my 4" scallop circle Nestie and my Cuttlebug to cut this card base.

4th of July

Summer is going by so fast. I can't keep up. We have been busy lately. We took some time out to see the fireworks at the Carroll County Farm Museum. We were lucky to see them from the grounds of Carroll County Hospital. It was a beautiful night and we were pretty close to the spot they were shooting them off. The kids were super excited and it was a thrill to hear their "oooos" and "ahhhs".

The new Idea Books have arrived, so I am getting ready to make my order for Fall/Winter. I will be working on some new layouts and cards. Need to do a lot of catching up.
